Uncle Ralph's Restaurant [Edison, NJ]

Uncle Ralph’s Restaurant is a Peruvian polleria and restaurant located in Edison on Woodbridge Ave., in the shadow of Route 1.

It can probably best be compared to Super Pollo in Brick, although it’s good to have other options in the area.

Owned and operated by husband and wife, and raised in a family of other Peruvian restauranteurs and bakers (the owner’s brother owns Runa Peruvian in Red Bank, the wife’s mother is the owner Luchita’s Bakery in Elizabeth), Uncle Ralph’s excels in several areas.

Their pollo a la brasa, or Peruvian rotissire chicken is the star of the show. It’s prepared in a blend of spices and then roasted in an authentic charcoal oven shipped from Peru.

You can order the chicken either by quarter, half, or whole, and it comes with fresh cut french fries (amazing!), a side salad, and delicious aji verde sauce.

They offer a variety of typical Peruvian la carte dishes such as chaufa and lomo saltado as well as rotating specials, although their chicken is best.

Their entire dessert section is prepared and delivered by Luchita, a famous Peruvian baker and caterer that resides in the Elizabeth area. They have various pies and cakes that are all delectable such as tres leche, lemon pie, cheesecake, lacoma jello cake, mazzamora pudding, and more!

God damn those Peruvian chickens.

I really hate that there’s only one of me and so many great restaurants to try in Edison. :frowning:
