I went ’ UNI ’ shopping today…to be used on our homemade Chirashi night. Saw these newly arrived BC UNI at Markham T&T selling for a great price of only $19.99 a tray. No brainer! Automatically grabbed some!
Next, went to the newly opened TARO FISH at Woodbine & Steeles to get fish and seafood assortment for the rice topping
SAW THEM CHARGING THE SAME IDENTICAL PRODUCT AT $46.00!!!
Talk about price gouging!!
Isn’t T&T owned by Loblaws? Maybe the buying power of multiple locations makes a difference.
Yes! Other fishmongers like Diana’s Seafood are selling them more, around $34.99…which is still high, but nothing near that rip-off $46 price point!
Often seafood products have different “grades” despite from the “same location” … hence you may see the different pricing. Also the different level of trading also changes the price. From the surface, the cause of the differences is not as clear.
