Following hot on the heels of the sacking of Gregg Wallace (for multiple incidents of inappropriate language and behaviour towards women), Torode has also been sacked, after an allegation was uphel;d that he used very racist language in the workplace. He denies any recollection of the incident - but is now toast. Perhaps a tad harsh, as the allegation apparently is a single incident for which he immediately apologised. Or perhaps not a tad harsh.
I think it is now impossible to show any of the recorded 2025 shows of Masterchef, Celebrity Masterchef and Masterchef, The Professionals. It’s tragic the damage these two men have done to the future career prospects of the contestants, particularly those getting through to the later rounds…
The BBC are having a tough time of it recently. I absolutely abhor Gregg Wallace. From the moment I first saw him on TV he gave me the creeps. I don’t know how overtly creepy characters like him and Jimmy Savile ever get to be working in TV for years and years before being exposed.

And, of course, Savile wasnt exposed until after his death. Even though it seems lots of folk who worked with him reckoned he was a “wrong un”.
I remember a documentary about him years back, when he was accompanied and interviewed by Louis Theroux over several days. He was clearly a very unpleasant person. That documentary alone should have been enough to “do for him” and probably would nowadays. I think his charitable works provided him with enough cover.

The BBC has confirmed that it will show Masterchef, starting on 6 August. I understand they may have tried to edit out Wallace and Torode as much as possible. It argues that it is life changing for contestants particularly those who reach the later rounds and not showing it would ruin that chance.
Showing it has not met with universal approval. Today, it’s been announced that one contestant who does not approve of it being shown has asked to be edited out and that’s been carried out.
