[UK] Digital fishmongers

The article mentions chef Mitch Tonks, of whom I’m a fan. I’ve eaten at his flagship restaurant, The Seahorse, in Dartmouth, Devon and at a couple of outlets on his seafood mini-chain, Rockfish. Here’s my review of last time at a Rockfish.

I thought this was going to be about fish fingers.

I’ve subscribed since half a year a digital fish monger and distribution service Poiscaille. The idea: the company works with a network of independent fisherfolk with their boats, for my shop, they deliver every Thursday afternoon. Each Wednesday night, they put online the catch of the day, about 15-30 choices. After confirmation, I will go to a store of my choice to pick up my order the next day. They have about 1700 points of delivery everywhere in France (mainly urban areas and big cities). The fish and seafood we ordered are very fresh compared to the ones we find in the market, I guess due to transport between wholesalers and retailers which takes longer time and a better cold chain management.

I don’t think this is the trend in France yet, as it is more expensive than the market, the startup company offers good service, and is quite receptive to complaints.
