Turquaz, [San Francisco - SOMA]

Newish Turkish restaurant on the corner of Mission and 8th. Really nice space, with a very large pastry selection. I was hungry and picking up take-out so my pictures suck, and I would recommend eating there, as the space is really pleasant and bright, and you can pick from the huge pastry display case. I had a sketchy parking space for my pick up so couldn’t linger, but grabbed a delicious cake with banana and white chocolate shavings, that wasn’t too sweet.

Sort of an all day operation, they serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, with a large selection of sweet and savory baked goods, so you can do a full meal or just pop in for coffee and something sweet. Everything was really good - nice addition to SF.

Lahmacun - (minced meat, tomatoes, peppers, and fresh herbs. Served with parsley, onions, and a slice of lemon.) had a nice spice, and was perfect with the tomatoes, herbs and a squeeze of lemon to cut the richness. I scarfed one down in the car, and the flatbread had already started to get a little soggy probably better to eat there.

Adana Wrap (Spicy grilled minced beef and lamb skewer, wrapped with tomatoes, pickles, arugula, red cabbage, onions, and tahini-yogurt sauce) had a mild lamb flavor. I think I liked the texture of shaved lamb better in a wrap than the meat skewer, but this was good.

Meat Doner Bowl (Sliced rotisserie beef (80%) and lamb (20%) with rice or bulgur with sumac onions, pickles and greek salad). Sounds beef heavy, but it actually had a deep lamb flavor, which was nice. I also like they give the option of bulgar instead of rice. Really good.
