On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, Turkuaz Market in Manassas makes doner.
It’s an impressive version, very crispy and chewy. They are also very generous with the portions here, and there are a few tables and chairs in the back of the market. It can be served as a platter or a sandwich, either on a good crusty sub roll or as a wrap.
In comparison to Doner Capitol on P St, NW, I prefer the D.C. version as a platter with its luxurious, buttery flavor, but I prefer Turkuaz as a sandwich as I like the sauces better with the generous amount of meat.
Either way, it’s a win.
