Amarena cherry ice cream is a popular flavor in Italy.
I think I may have tasted Amerena gelato somewhere? Who knows as it’s been way too long since we visited Italy.
Time to go back, I guess
YES - Cauliflower jalapeño dip
This tastes like leftover cauliflower cheese, which is what I was hoping for. (Too likable for me to keep in the fridge all the time, however… it was gone in a flash!)
MEH, TJ’s raised the price of its excellent Medium Roast Ground Coffee by a $1.00 a bag from $3.99 to $4.99-- it’s still a bargain since they actually give a whole pound…but sheesh.
Portland, Maine store.
In a little corner market in SF, I noticed a sign selling coffee beans for $12.99 lb!!!
A good specialty coffee can cost that much or more. I often pay anywhere from $16-20 for a 10 to 12 oz. package. Given how little coffee farmers get for their crop, especially given the ridiculously low prices for commodity coffee (the C Market), I’m happy to pay more if that extra price trickles down to them.
Ooh, that’s a pretty good endorsement. I’ll have to try it.
Not to yuck your yum, but these are just OK to me. They’re really syrupy sweet and the texture is kind of mushy. I much prefer these cherries (and their syrup), which have a nice tart element. They’re more expensive than TJ’s but cheaper than say, Luxardo.
YAY to the Espresso Maple tea. It has a hint of sweetness and a mellow finish. Someone brought a box into work, so I don’t know if TJ’s has it all the time or if it’s just a fall/winter offering.
A big YAY for the TJ’s Brewer’s Ginger Ale! Much spicier then old school Canada Dry (which I grew up with) or Schwepp’s. Wife said they had an even spicier version but she knew I’d like the milder.
YEA + NAY on their frozen Atlantic salmon fillets. Positive because the fillets are more even than most others. Negative is that the skin still has scales (ask me how I found out… ugh). I have learned to work around it, but it’s just annoying.
They’ve also got Yellowtail in the freezer section, which was exciting to me because I haven’t eaten it since I was last in CA.
Saw several things new to me, including some additions to their truffle lineup. Adding pics, but I haven’t tried any of them yet.
I tried the truffle cheese crunchies and Kalua spring rolls. Both were ok but will not be a repeat buy for me.
I bought those frozen artichokes but have not tried yet; looks good.
The artichoke hearts or the artichoke timbales? I am very curious about the timbales…
TJ’s Ranch Seasoning Blend is new to me. I give it a yay because I like making dip with it. Though we don’t actually use ranch dressing on salad, so I can’t attest to how it works for its main purpose.
I like those truffled cheese crunchies a lot.
The artichokes are as you’d expect. I’m really curious about the timbales too.
That Jap Chae stir fry looks interesting…
Yeah. I’m downplaying carbs at the moment so put it back, but right up my alley. I like that they’ve been explaining their Korean selection. Slightly befuddled why their thai offerings are so scant.
Do you mean the frozen offerings? I still have so much to learn about thai food but my best guess is that so much of thai cuisine is very fresh. If I don’t pick up my thai take out in a timely manner it deteriorates quickly. Korean food seems sturdier but I am still such a noob
