Trader Joe’s Product Reviews – YEA/NAY/MEH – 2025 Edition

I’m not huge on tater chips, but these might actually be nice for a holiday soirée with bublé. Might grab a bag or two for xmas eve or NYE.

Finally got a chance to buy some of the Dubai style chocolate today. It’s good but, IMHO, not as big a deal as the hype for it. One thing….. the product has an oily lines on the bar’s surface. ChatGPT says this type of chocolate has higher butter fat than others. Have you guys found the with TJ’s or do I have weird bar?

A very dangerous and addictive YAY!!! to these mini chocolate mint cookies. Basically little mini Thin Mints.

Excellent for ice cream/cupcake topping as well.

They also make a plain chocolate (non mint) version as well.

They are seasonal, so snag em while you can.

If you find a market that sells Point Reyes blue cheese, it’s very good. Expensive(what isn’t) but a very good blue cheese

A really good blue cheese is Point Reyes. Some markets carry it

Agreed. We’ve been to their facility a couple of times. Very good indeed.

Yes! I love them crumbled on vanilla ice cream. Look forward to these every year. I might mail my dad a box.

The only Dubai chocolate I have had is Lindt’s bar, at triple the price of their other bars. No oily lines. Not much different from Nestle’s Krunch. I would not buy it again.

No clue how the word ‘lines’ got in my post. The chocolate had an ‘oily’ feel all over it that I’ve never felt on any chocolate before.

Sounds like a subpar chocolate product, then. Perhaps no surprise with everyone wanting to jump on the Dubai train these days.

Dubai chocolate shouldn’t be all that similar to a crunch bar. Should be much more similar to the round Lindt chocolates, texturally – hard exterior, soft center. (But with some crunch too.) Still not at all worth it IMHO but sounds like the Lindt version is a total fail.

I can’t get over the price of the Lindt version when I can get a bar actually from Dubai for not much more (I’m checking now out of curiosity. Hannaford sells the 5.3 oz Lindt for $15, and Wee has a 6 oz bar from Dubai for $20 or 170 grams for $11).

And there’s a Russell Stover version now! I can’t remember the last time a flavor—not a specific product—spread this quickly, especially something that actually has to be manufactured, not just a restaurant dish.

Where did you see that bar made in Dubai for that price (from Fix Dessert Chocolatier ?) - Normally if you buy from them (the original vendor) if costs significantly more

It wasn’t Fix … let me see if I can find it in my order history, this was around last Christmas.

You know what, I had it wrong. I remember buying a very small bar, sold frozen with a big import sticker on it, but the one in my Weee order history is from a Chinese company (Evae). I don’t know if I’m mixing it up with a purchase from somewhere else or just misremembering entirely, sorry about that!

Doubling down on the HELL YEA for the chuck, brisket, and sirloin patties. Seasoned with salt, msg, fresh pepper and a little garlic powder, cooked on a blazing hot cast iron skillet, they had a nice brown crust and rare interior. On a ciabatta roll, with tomato and little gems. I forgot to add the cheese (havarti)! One of the best burgers I’ve had in a very long time.

HUGE NAY for the O’Nog!!! I’m a bit lactose intolerant so I tried this oat-based attempt and it was a total flop. No flavor!!! At least not compared to the real thing. Tried some rum and cinnamon; still not good. Beware!!! YMMV of course.

I can’t remember the brand I boughtast year. I’ll post it wheb I buy nog next

Somewhere (I think on HO) I read a review of the stuffed eggplant that said it needed longer and hotter cook time than shown on the box. I tried it this evening and it was quite good. That post had said the eggplant was firm, but the way I cooked it it was perfectly soft.

Not sure these are new, maybe just seasonal but pretty good overall.
I liked the chocolate, maybe a tad too much Dead Sea salt though

Does Dead Sea salt taste notably different than some other random sea salt?
