Trader Joe’s Product Reviews – YEA/NAY/MEH – 2025 Edition

Nothing to do with obsession. I eat whatever I want. I just keep track of it.

That’s great for you. Unfortunately, I have a very good friend who’s developed an eating disorder late in life, and she is rather obsessed about her (and other people’s) food intake :woman_shrugging:

That’s awful. Sorry you think everyone who uses MyFitnessPal is obsessed. Unless your friend is keeping her daily target at an absurdly low calorie level, her food tracking is not the problem. Perhaps you should save that word “obsession” for people who also care about what other people eat or have other abnormal behaviors.

I’ve never said anything of that nature. I’ve used that app myself before, and it comes in handy IF n when one wants to track their calories every day.

Seems I’ve hit a sore spot here :woman_shrugging:

As for my friend yes, she is obsessed. No, she is not tracking her food on any app.

She just basically starves herself and works out obsessively, while talking about how terrified she is of the “fat days,” i.e the holidays.

This from someone who’s 6 foot 2 and was never even remotely overweight.

Lastly, kindness and empathy cannot be measured in an app. They should come naturally, and I happen to care about my friends.

As do we all. But when you start a post with “That’s great for you,” it sets a bad tone.

Nay to the apparent discontinuation of the brown jasmine rice, from Thailand. In fact, there was no brown rice at all at the store I went to, and no gaps in the shelf.

Wish TJ’s would make this…. I’ve been buying the Nantucket style cranberry pie and it is very good as is but I’ve made an improved version by either scraping off the cranberry sauce or just adding to it with cranberry/orange sauce that they sell in the tub. It really is a big step-up.

I’ve been using my FitnessPal for around 15 years, and I was using Livestrong’s MyPlate (discontinued in 2023) to track meals and weight before that. I don’t always track my meals. I track my weight almost daily. I find it helps.

(Not specifically you, just keeping it on the thread)

It makes me bananas to track meals. It’s annoying and trivial (maybe sales-related PTSD because I hate doing call reports for work, too) I’ve grudgingly gone back to Chronometer just because it tracks more details than some of the others. It does make me more conscious of what is going on in my day…but I tend to end up doing it by memory as I refuse to be that girl logging everything in a restaurant (and with my chosen vocation I’m in a restaurant every work day)

I dont dare weigh myself daily. The day to day fluctuations leave me chasing a number instead of pursuing a trend.

YAY for the mini toffees, for they are back!

ATM, tho, only in the tiny teaser baggies — but I can’t waittttt to head-dive into the buckets once they arrive

The lemon-arugula salad mix is worth a special trip.

Could be someone mentioned this in the prior 850! but the salted maple ice cream is super yum. We used it yesterday to top our apple cake and pumpkin pie. Their pie crust was a complete fail though. Thawed overnight in the fridge, somehow anyway broke into 30 pieces as I unrolled it, and then stuck like hell to the pie dish so we had pie filling and sandy crumble…

Something called Wholesome gets excellent reviews, comes frozen in a tin, Safeway had on sale for about $7, I didn’t buy.

Maple Ice cream sandwiches - meh - we love the maple sandwich cookies but the ice cream version is bland with little maple taste

Huge YEA: Spicy Snack Bar Mix. New to me, but I believe not new to TJ’s? (A seasonal product, maybe? I don’t recall seeing it before but I see Reddit threads on the topic from last year.) Not really spicy at all, but extremely tasty. Goes very well with adult beverages! I’ll definitely buy some more.

YEA to the Maple Butter Tarts, freezer section. 12 Oreo-sized tarts per package, 80 calories each. The box says it is one serving - if only!

Last winter’s maple mini biscotti were exemplary. None seen in my local TJs as of mid-November. I hope for an encore this year.

I love them and try to get a can every year. The rosemary nuts are also good, not overwhelmingly rosemary.

Meh on the “Lasagna Soup”. It was mentioned in our local paper and sounded intriguing. While the pasta wasn’t soggy, the flavor profile was reminiscent of Spaghetti-Os or Chef Boy Ar Dee canned ravioli.

A general MEH to the Brie en Croute appetizer. It was a very bland brie in some rather uninspiring pastry. Not bad, but certainly nothing exciting. Adding some roasted almonds and honey helped.

If I want this in the future, I’ll get a better cheese and get premade puff pastry.

They have wheels of brie (and camembert) and frozen puff pastry around this time – the only benefit to the prepared version is that it’s smaller (and saves doing the wrapping yourself).
