Just one question, what’s your address? LOL I also just tried the Norwegian smoked salmon. I have a hunch that may also be short term, it was very good and nice thin slices with a relatively mild smoke flavour (which I prefer to a strong one) also not too salty.
I get Norwegian smoked salmon at TJs all the time, so it isn’t a seasonal item.
I think it was on Chowhound that I once started a thread admitting to buying foods based on the utility/shape/beauty of their glass containers.
I don’t drink, and I have several (small) bottles of sake because the glass bottles were so pretty!
Tried the green chili enchiladas tonight for a quick dinner. Couldn’t recall reading anything about them here but they looked like they could be good. My impression was a solid MAYBE.
The flavor was pretty decent but I’m not sure why the tortillas seemed to all but disintegrate. I cooked them in the oven, per instructions, as I was concerned that microwaving would do what the oven did. Anyone have experience or thoughts on this?
I tried these this weekend, and I hated them.
I don’t know if these are new or an upgraded version, but they were so bad that I almost threw them out. I finished it because in today’s grocery inflation, it makes food waste even worse. But these are aptly named “not your average” because they are way, waaaaay below average. I generally like salsa verde, but this was nothing but green sour tang that covered the taste of everything.
Thanks! I’m not a subscriber and I tried to access it through several browsers and private windows after clearing the cache, but didn’t work. I did see some of it through an AI summary, however.
This reviewer is a hoot.
They still carry some Columbus items, but not the Calabrese salami, which is now their own label. I have found some markets that do have the narrow sticks of Calabrese and will slice it thin, so that will have to work. Thanks
YEA for the seasonal Frick’s ham @richb51 mentioned upthread – I found one small enough to try. Lightly smoky, not too salty. I’m not a glazed ham person, so I sliced it up like deli ham, and it’s better than most deli ham options. Will vac pack and freeze.
MEH to the Calabrese Salami. It’s not bad, it’s just not very good. And not spicy (“this flavorful and fiery Uncured Salami is seasoned with red pepper and paprika”).
If anyone tries the new Butter Tarts, I’d love to know if they’re worth a shot!
Their own Calabrese is decidedly inferior to the Columbus. The Columbus Calabrese is sold in some markets in a Columbus charcuterie sampler, but I don’t care for the other 2 salamis in the pack. I have found some sticks of the Columbus Calabrese in a pepperoni sized stick and can have it sliced very thin at the deli. Slicing by hand isn’t really an option as can’t slice it that thin
MEH to the squiggly noodz with sesame soy sauce. The noodz themselves are fun to eat, but the sauce it terribly bland & requires a lot of doctoring up. Which may not be the point of a ramen-type meal. Or maybe I should’ve lowered my expectations ![]()
There’s apparently also a ‘spicy’ version. Eh.
