YEA for the Crunchy Chili Onion Sprinkle Seasoning Blend.
I had resisted buying it until now but it’s pretty delicious and will probably go with everything.

What do you suggest using it on?
Do you like chilli crisp? Anything that would go on, plus pasta, plain rice, fried rice, potatoes, dips, yogurt, proteins, eggs.
I just got it, so I haven’t used it other than tasting directly, but they have starter ideas here. It’s the dry sprinkle version of the one in oil.
Yea to these Hot & Sweet Jalapeños. They are hot and sweet as advertised. Unlike some supermarket pickled jalapeños, they are a little crisp and crunchy as well.
Also yea to some more snacks - Fruity Jellies, which are a bit like pâtes de fruits, and Chocolate Coconut Almonds, which taste a bit like Almond Joy candy but with a harder shell.
I like those almonds, too — mostly for the coconut and chocolate tho bc I find almonds boring.
i like the Hot & Sweet Jalapeños as well, and sometimes use the brine as part of the pickling liquid when making quick pickled cucumber and onions.
I had the Sri Lankan Curry and Rice with Cashews for lunch. It was okay, but a bit too sweet for me, and certainly not worth driving nine miles for. (If I want to save two minutes, Google Maps gives me a 13-mile route which has tolls the route I use doesn’t!)
The new French butter cookies are delicious.
I also love the new mini dark Belgian chocolate bar; it’s thin, small, smooth, intensely delicious. (Comes in a package of 5)
(I controlled myself, only ate one of each)
YEA for the new lamb chop package – 4 rib chops to a pack, so the size is right (and much cheaper than the rack of lamb). Hope they stick around.
the ny times wirecutter rates tj’s. looks like gift links aren’t available for the wirecutter:
I’ve had those Thai coconut pancakes. They’re good. The jalapeño cream cheese wontons have a nice kick to them.
Looking at that list, most TJ’s fans probably won’t be surprised by some of these choices, e.g. the Unexpected Cheddar, the Delice de Bourgogne, the hatch chile mac, and the croissants.
The kimbap looks pretty terrible, TBH, but the chili lime tortilla chips sound good.
Wonder how Wirecutter’s gonna make money off of these suggestions, like they do with seemingly every other product they recommend…
There has been a lot of discussion here about the kimbap and the optimal ways to heat it.
It’s not for me, which is why I likely missed any discussion of it.
for those without a subscription to wirecutter, what is the tl;dr summary of the article?
The products they like: Tom Yum Seasoned Snack Mix, Passion Fruit Rounds, Chili & Lime Rolled Tortilla Chips, Unexpected Cheddar, Spicy Uncured Charcuterie Selection, Le Delice de Bourgogne, Jalapeño and Cream Cheese Crispy Wontons, Parmesan Pastry Pups, Tortilla Española, Maple Pofferties, Double Chocolate Croissants, Chicken Tikka Masala, Kimbap, Hatch Chili Mac & Cheese, Sweet Cinnamon-Filled Koream Pancakes, Instant Boba Kit, Dark Chocolate Ganache Mini Sheet Cake, Kanom Krok Thai Coconut Pancakes, .
In other words, it’s almost all frozen prepared foods, bakery, and snacks. The only thing on their list I’ve tried (and I do regularly buy it) is Unexpected Cheddar, but my TJ’s shopping list is almost entirely staples and groceries; I don’t tend to buy the frozen or other prepared foods, snacks or sweets.
thx for the rundown. none of that intersects with my TJs shopping list. i’d probably try the chicken tikka masala if it weren’t so salty. the one prepared frozen item i do get on the regular is the shrimp gyozas because my mom will eat them. i also get frozen fish from TJs too, but like you the bulk is staples & groceries.
I noticed mini shrimp noodle rolls which I suppose is their take on cheung fun. anyone try them yet?
I just ordered a 3 pack of these from Amazon. These are fantastic and addictive. My wife and I almost finished a full jar in one day. I love the pickling juice.
Thanks for the recommendation @Mr_Happy !
You have a high heat tolerance!
You might also love the Crispy Jalapeño Pieces – crunchy, hot, and also addictive!
