Trader Joe’s Product Reviews – YEA/NAY/MEH – 2025 Edition

Meh to the Brookies. Too sweet and seemingly underbaked. I like the sea salted brownies much better.

YAY to the bulgogi!!

Fry fromm frozen. Very tasty, slightly Smokey, not at all
chewy.

Serve over rice w green onions, some sesame seeds. Would also be great in tacos or fried rice.

I tried these again after they warmed in the car in the sun, and they were better, if still too sweet.

TJ’s Japanese Souffle Cheesecake is back!!! Last year, it was sold out within 2-3 days in the entire Bay Area. It’s very fluffy, flavorful, but yet so light. It’s a less-guilt dessert. Grab it while you can.

Is the bulgogi very sweet?

There’s some sweetness to it, but no. I didn’t find it so. It was pretty savory and slightly smoky, which I liked very much.

I compared it in my own head to Filipino tocino, a similarly thinly sliced marinated dish (usually pork). It’s much less sweet than any version of that.

Made enough for dinner for two plus leftovers for lunch the next day.

9 grams added sugar. Not insane but more than I enjoy in an entree, YMMV

Thanks, yes, that’s a lot for my taste. Oh well, guess I will make my own.

I tried these, Root Beer Float candy. Actually tastes like RB…and kind of like a float. Not sure I’d buy again (don’t buy a lot of candy) but they’re tasty, if you like RB. Nostalgic for North Americans.

When I was a kid there used to be root beer flavored candies shaped like little barrels - snyone else remember these? I’m sure they’re not at TJs. :joy:

Yes we had the RB barrel candy as kids-- I suspect it’s partially how I came to like RB…well Ice Cream sodas too-- a Root Beer Float! :yum:

Yea to both of these - sea salt & turbinado sugar dark chocolate almonds, dark chocolate covered cherries. 23 and 22 calories a pop, respectively. Good with an espresso.

I don’t normally like chocolate and fruit together, but I am crazy about those chocolate covered cherries.

The Calabrian Chili Spicy Pasta Sauce was tasty, but seemed to have an excess of stems or stem-like objects. In the 1/5 jar or so I used, there were two; I really wouldn’t expect to find any in the whole jar. Maybe they all floated to the top or something.

Root Beer Barrels, usually sold in bulk, were a frequent sight at the variety store. I haven’t seen them in ages, maybe I didn’t notice them last time I visited the local soda fountain/candy store. I used to give them to the kids to suck on as a throat soother.

Moderators, it might be time to split the root beer discussion to its own thread.

Next grocery trip to a mainstream store, I’m going to look for root beer popsicles. More questions like which is your favorite RB if moved.

I am appreciative of TJ’s effective and reasonably priced skin care and personal care products.
Especially as I inch up in years.

Root beer and banana flavored Twin Pop popsicles are my faves! Home made root beer sherbet, too.
Som childhood memories never disappear.
