Totem Family Diner, Everett WA

In the course of looking for somewhere else, Wahine and I found this place last Saturday. What set the hook was the parking lot was full and the signage said something like “Since 1953”.

My experience with diners is that, if they’re old, they’re likely to be… tired and smelly. Not so with Totem, although tired and smelly an also be a good sign of good diner food. The buildout was nicely clean and bright, enough so I doubted the 1953 claim. But there on the wall were faded B&W photos of the place.

The menu is a 320-yard drive down the middle of classic diner fairway. Sandwiches, burgers, all-day breakfasts. EVERYTHING the servers were carrying looked very good.

We ultimately chose to split a 4-egg carnitas omelet with fruit subbed for the O’Brien potatoes and toast. Also, very good and a lot of food. Reasonable price at $14.99.

In retrospect, we must’ve driven by this place 200 times over the years. How could we not have noticed it?

Anyone else here know Totem? What menu items do you favor?
