This is why I follow Hungry Onion! Iāve lived in Southern California for 50 years, so my exposure to ātortillaā is obviously Mexico-centric. In all that time Iāve never known the word to refer to anything other than the conveyance of taco or tostada fillings, or a wrapper for a burrito. Cut up and fried theyāre ātortilla chipsā. The omelette is a āSpanish omeletteā. Iāve been to Europe a few times but never to Spain. Perhaps if I had Iād have some knowledge of a broader use of the word.
Interestingly Google pages and Wikipedia must have also lived here as I wasnāt able to find any other definitions there either. Just goes to prove that you donāt know it all even if you think you do.
