Tortilla - to onion or not to onion, that is the question

This is why I follow Hungry Onion! I’ve lived in Southern California for 50 years, so my exposure to ā€œtortillaā€ is obviously Mexico-centric. In all that time I’ve never known the word to refer to anything other than the conveyance of taco or tostada fillings, or a wrapper for a burrito. Cut up and fried they’re ā€˜tortilla chips’. The omelette is a ā€˜Spanish omelette’. I’ve been to Europe a few times but never to Spain. Perhaps if I had I’d have some knowledge of a broader use of the word.

Interestingly Google pages and Wikipedia must have also lived here as I wasn’t able to find any other definitions there either. Just goes to prove that you don’t know it all even if you think you do. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Those seem like pretty good instructions! But I like to include onions.

Agreed! I’m definitely in the pro onion camp too.
