Tortilla - to onion or not to onion, that is the question

This is why I follow Hungry Onion! Iā€™ve lived in Southern California for 50 years, so my exposure to ā€œtortillaā€ is obviously Mexico-centric. In all that time Iā€™ve never known the word to refer to anything other than the conveyance of taco or tostada fillings, or a wrapper for a burrito. Cut up and fried theyā€™re ā€˜tortilla chipsā€™. The omelette is a ā€˜Spanish omeletteā€™. Iā€™ve been to Europe a few times but never to Spain. Perhaps if I had Iā€™d have some knowledge of a broader use of the word.

Interestingly Google pages and Wikipedia must have also lived here as I wasnā€™t able to find any other definitions there either. Just goes to prove that you donā€™t know it all even if you think you do. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Those seem like pretty good instructions! But I like to include onions.

Agreed! Iā€™m definitely in the pro onion camp too.
