[Toronto, Ontario] comfortable, non-rushed recommendation?

Looking for a comfy non-rushed atmosphere for a lunch date with lots of chatting. Mid to downtown. Any thoughts? Not too expensive, please, and interesting food. Need to know before Monday afternoon. Don’t want much, do I? :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Could you provide an exact price range for starters and for mains? It really helps with suggestions.

For midrange pub food open during the day, the Duke of York on Prince Arthur has reasonable prices and they will not rush people.

The Oxley is fairly expensive relative to the Duke. They also do not rush people at lunch. The food is more upscale and some dishes are better tasting, or made from higher quality ingredients. I don’t think it’s worth the extra cost for anyone watching their budget.

I think Kalyvia, Mezes, Pantheon , Soula’s and Christina’s on the Danforth would also be reasonable and would not rush anyone wanting a leisurely lunch. Mezes is more expensive than the other 4.

I don’t think the Terroni on Queen West would rush people during a weekday lunch. They might on a weekend. I suspect the Adelaide Terroni would rush people more.

I would think neighborhood Chinese and Indian restaurants , Indian restos such as Dil Se on Roncy , or Mumbaikar on Bloor, would be happy to host you for a leisurely lunch.

The Bloor location of Mumbaikar only serves lunch Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Around Yonge/St Clair several options.
AmuseGirl likes Mary Be for lunch with girlfriends (sort of upscale cafe).
Zelden’s is a mid-range Deli with multiple options.
El Inka (Peruvian) qualifies as ‘interesting’. But I recommend sticking to the appetizers/ soups/salads/ceviches rather than the mains (which are less suitable for lunch IMO).

All tolerate ‘lingering’. And all less than 5 minutes from subway station.

Rosedale will have a few spots that would fit the bill especially if you are ok sitting outside.
Sorrel
Quanto Basta (one of my fav)
Rebel House (patio will be quiet)
