Ithink this was 2 day, but she did say they can’t guarantee it, so I am not sure. I was just happy to find them open at 8am this morning. I am feeling fairly relaxed about it, and looking forward to getting it right soon.
Hoping she feels the love. She called on Monday, and she seems so happy, which of course makes me happy!
She got the blondies! Apparently they get a message when mail arrives, which is great, and it arrived quickly. This is such happy, useful news. She said they smell like home.
Smells like home…oh,my, tears just came to my eyes! How wonderful! And I’m not surprised the college sends messages when packages arrive…what a useful thing to do! Now you know! So great it got there Friday and not Monday!
There was a year or so when I regularly shipped a monthly care package with homemade goodies across the country. Brownies, blondies, and RK treats all worked well pack as uncut (or just scored) slabs, double-wrapped in foil and ziplocks or cling film and foil. Chocolate chip and similar drop cookies, sugar cookies and similar baked from dough balls, frozen and packed in tins or boxes all fared well. Sablés and other slice-and-bake or similar-textured cookies are good for shipping, both in relative sturdiness and in shelf life. Dorie’s Cookies has a ton of these (including some nice savory options). Also in the savory snacky vein: spiced nuts.
This makes a lot of sense, given how little in the way of snail mail (and much of it likely packages) today’s college students probably receive relative to what we all did back in the day.
Yes, I was pretty sure you had it. The rosemary parm cookies (biscuits in the British sense) with pecans are a nice savory option, and there are tons of sweet sablés.
