As a life long Long Islander it behooves me that now, these days, when the “south shore” is mentioned, it automatically means Suffolk County. I spent a LOT of time on both the south shore of Nassau where I lived, and the north shore of Nassau where I had cousins, and much time all over Suffolk, north and south and both forks.
