Yet another list everyone’s been waiting for with bated breath…
This isn’t actually an NYT list. This is the NYT reporting on the World’s 50 Best list awards which were announced in Turin yesterday. A bit more high profile than the NYT Food section lists!
Thanks, I will edit accordingly.

Did you just post the exact same list I did?
Don’t think so. Yours is from the NY Times.
Someone will quickly correct me if I’m wrong but this list feels much more geographically diverse than previous years. Who would have thought, a year or so back, that out of the 50, four would be in lima and six in Bangkok.
Here’s the organisation’s website - https://www.theworlds50best.com/
Everyone here in Spain was expecting the number 1 to be Extebarri–everyone except for the chef, Bittor! He stays at number 2.
I was thinking the same thing!
It’s great that Bangkok has been recognized. It’s a world class food city. Unfortunately, none of that class is recognized in the entries making the list. I suppose Sorn might be the exception. Having been to all six (plus Singapore’s Odette) on more than one occasion and comparing to meals in other equally world class cities (e.g Tokyo- only 3 and just Sezanne, Narisawa and Florilege at that, so much more going on there to seek out), it’s hard to take it seriously. In general the Asian entries (limited to HK, Tokyo, Bangkok and 1 each in SG, Seoul and Osaka) are well worn, safe and uninspiring choices.
