This is one of my fav breakfast/brunch dishes… I do mine with both turkey and ham, cheese (usually deli American, Gruyere, or Swiss slices), on egg battered bread (brioche if I have it, otherwise whole wheat), fried in butter… with hash browns.
While I sometimes do the traditional raspberry compote, I usually prefer them plain… just dipping my bites into warm maple syrup.
Recently I’ve seen recipes using waffles… both with plain (even frozen) waffles, and those done in a waffle iron almost like a pannini press.
So what is your favorite incarnation of this amazing sandwich?
