The Milford Oyster House - CLOSED

We recently went to a “last supper” at the Milford Oyster House, said by many to be the best seafood restaurant in New Jersey. After almost nineteen years of operation, siblings Amy and Ed Coss have sold the restaurant to a couple who will reopen it in August as The Milford House. From what I’ve heard, the new place may feature Italian cuisine.

The Oyster House will be dearly missed, and I will especially miss the crab Norfolk and the smoked lemon-pepper mackerel appetizer, two dishes that were unique to this restaurant. And, of course, Amy’s amazing cheesecake!

Just read that the daughter and son-in-law of the owner of Siam in Lambertville (which is also closing) are taking over. With their Thai background I certainly hope it won’t be another Italian restaurant!

I guess we’ll have to wait and see. I do know that the son-in-law has worked at the Oyster House for a couple of years. A friend told me that the new owners may carry over some of the more popular Oyster House entrees.
