I got a big jar of pistachio cream from Costco the other day. Total impulse buy, no clue what to do with it. I wonder if there’s a Dubai chocolate brownie type recipe that would use pistachio cream? Anyone have any ideas? Off to search…
You can shmear it on toasted bread like you would peanut butter for a decadent breakfast, or add it to pistachio ice cream — assuming from your handle that you might enjoy that kinda stuff
Same and same. I used some in the custard part of a galatopita last weekend - turned out fine, but I’m guessing it wasn’t the highest and best use for the product. It’s pretty sweet, so I’m thinking it might be nice paired with a dark chocolate ganache in some format, maybe on a shortbread crust. Or swirled into a raspberry (or other tart fruit) blondie.
Pistachio creams often contain oils, sugar and lecithin which makes it quite complicated to calculate the right sugar (and other ingredient) amounts for ice cream
Good to know. I successfully made ice cream with my carefully-purchased jar of sicilian pistachio cream (very high % of pistachio, very little in the way of BS ingredients) but I recently bought the Costco version, and will report back my ice cream results.
It was these, or a bag of Dubai truffles that were $4 cheaper than at the Asian market, but roasted & salted 'stachios with dark chocolate obviously won out.
I love pistachios. The local gourmet market now carries pistachio muffins! They looked a little bit Disney green, so I read the ingredients, all 9 lines of it. No pistachios. Oh, well.
It is by far the reigning queen of nuts. Pure and utter perfection in any which way.
I loathe the artificially flavored pistachio products, which are thankfully easily recognized by the screaming neon green color.
Wegner’s used to make quite good pistachio muffins, but my PIC’s are better. And don’t even get me started on his luscious pistachio ice cream, which I already told him to make for the holidays
