It’s an interesting and very frustrating read. Ahold Delhaize is the parent company of one of these big chain of stores in MA, and they’ve announced a few closing over the last 6-8 months. It’s been sad to see they’ve targeted the stores in mostly low income neighborhoods because of lower sales. It just made no sense to me - the lower income neighborhoods need those closer grocery stores than the wealthy upperclass suburbs whose residents can easily drive an extra 15-20 minutes to the grocery store for the weekly haul. The feedback fell on deaf ears though.
Shame on state reps for not standing up for upholding those regulations, and shame on Americans for continuing to put reps in power who don’t care about upholding those regulations.
It’s almost like unregulated capitalism isn’t the best way to run a society.
Nah, it couldn’t be that.
The French had a nearly 100% effective and purely mechanical solution to the problem. Just sayin’.
