The French Pantry
First off, parking was a snap, a big plus. Our first minutes, when we should have been welcomed in and greeted, we were ignored by the hostess who was on the phone. I’m sure it was business but we should have been acknowledged. Then an older woman came over, ignored us and proceeded to fuss with the menus. After what seemed like an eternity, she escorted us to our table which was facing the bathroom. I asked to change seats she informed me, like I was a child, that we were also facing the demo kitchen. Strike two on service. Servers are young but well trained. Ours was very sweet. We ordered drinks and our server forgot about them and came to take our order. We asked for out drinks first. DH had the beef tartare app that came with some delicious griddled brioche. He loved the tartar. No app for me, I had my eye on dessert. For mains DH had steak au poivre and truffle fries. He liked it but, for me, the fries needed more cooking and some flavor. I had the duck confit a la orange. It was tiny and not like any confit I’ve ever had. Confit has crispy skin and this did not. I think it was roasted. It was ok. Oh, and described on the menu as “roasted duck, citrus glaze”. Why call it confit? All sides are a la carte. Dessert was good. Very moist chocolate cake.

Let me add that I brought home a few croissants. I have never tasted anything so bad. I don’t know if the butter was rancid or they used lard, but I threw them away.

So, will I go back? DH liked it I thought it was pretentious. Sorry.
