Big J and I stumbled upon a real, honest to goodness small-town diner in Elmvale. The Country Diner serves an all day breakfast, with other options like smash burgers, soups, fish and chips and house made cream pies, among other things. I enjoyed a fully loaded homemade chicken and corn soup and Big J had a cheeseburger. We had banana cream pie for dessert. Almost everything is made from scratch, in-house.
There’s nothing fancy about The Country Diner, but it’s honest, good food. We need more places like this. It’s a refreshing break from the homogenous muck offered by the ubiquitous chains. If you’re near Elmvale, give this place a try.
