Thank you! Excited about the marmalade. I know it’s very divisive. Most people hate.

Yes I hear ya my ‘Canadian Mom’ likes it so will make a good gift for mother’s Day. It’s a regional taste thing I guess as I even ended up making a blood orange version for her by request courtesy of food wishes recipe

Wow … awesome that you made it for her. Our family is Asian but I think I got the love of it from my grandparents. I grew up with it in the house. They probaby loved the orange peel in it.

Has anyone spotted prime rated striploin at any of the Costco? I caved today and picked up prime rated one’s at Loblaws maple leaf sq location as they looked nicely marbled. Will report back if they live up to the level

They still do NOT carry those ’ Jar Anchovies ’ in the Richmond Hill store!
BTW, I bought a few boxes of these surprisingly sweet Mexican ’ Black Berries ’ at $2 off the regular price of $7.99 at the Richmond Hill store!
Great buy! Very delish!

Not seeing the prime rated steaks still. Good thing I had a promo at Loblaws so picked up a few at almost Costco prices

Thank you! I’m thinking about getting the honeycomb… Loblaws has similar PC black label one 400g for $11.49 I think.

Thorncliffe was so busy today.
Here are the finds

Today’s trip after a while. Miso sable fish hmmm maybe a take on nobu version. Will report

Ok tried the miso black cod. Used the grill to bake it so the top isn’t quite as caramelized as broiler and bake approach. It is decent not quite the level of complexity of following the nobu recipe as I think they avoided sake marinating here. It does provide a nice pleasant taste.
I feel I don’t eat enough fish so this will probably become a regular staple. 5 decent sized portions as well.

I lowered the heat to 360 and baked it skin side up.

Thanks for the tip Charles though I cook the fish on the BBQ grill as I live in a condo. Despite having a decent kitchen hood from Miele I think fish is best left cooked outside in my case enjoy your supply

What if you added a bit of sake to the marinade to enhance the flavor? I’ll keep my eyes open for this.

The recipe uses an authentic recipe from Nagano, Japan that mirrors the one Nobu uses in his famous creation. Marinade already incorporated Mirin, Sake and Miso. Adding plain, dryish Sake at such late stage might not be harmonious to the final result?
