Totally agree with @GretchenS’s comments!

The piece has got me to wondering: I grew up in a rural area of the California Gold Country/Mother Lode (lots of mines and mining history, as well as generations of families who settled the area around the time of the Gold Rush).

When I was little, there was a tiny place in one of the small towns that sold (I assume traditional, but I was little and the memory is a bit fuzzy) Cornish pasties.

Sadly, the business closed by the time I was eight or nine, but I remember those pastries and the gravy we’d dip them into. Now I’m curious as to who owned the place and their history - going to pick some folks’ minds and see if anyone has the details.

Cool! Didn’t know of golden state pasties.
I don’t know of any Oregon ones either.
Montana gets all the publicity.
