The Big Fat Nostalgia Thread For All

The tiger is only 9 months old and I’m thinking instincts will kick in. What I saw on the news reports was the tiger was in a “cheaper” area of Memorial but certainly close to woods and large lots.

I see our kitty on the move at night and there is plenty of small game available from armadillos, possums, squirrels, cats and rats.

I am a cat guy for the record. :tiger: :tiger: :tiger:

I think I CAN tell that @jcostiones! As you might be getting that idea about me. Cats are amazing creatures, big or small, and I’m sure you’re right about the instincts kicking in.

People think cats are aloof but they don’t take the time to bond with them. I find the best way is at bedtime bring the cat in, put him on your chest, pet them, speak quietly about how much you love them and before you know it they are your best friend and follow you everywhere.

Do not try this with apex predator cats no matter the age.

Yes, agree with what you’re saying about human to feline bonding, also about the apex predator types. Which brings me to story time!

A now moved away neighbor was a zoologist and worked in a small zoo in New Mexico. He was on his own at the zoo for an hour or so, while other workers went to lunch. He was carrying out routine duties, and feeding responsibilities. He went to feed their female lion, something he’d done hundreds of times before; however, on that day she decided to go after his arm, and took a big mouthful or two, although for her, it was probably just a nibble. In any case, he was severely injured, and bleeding badly. He made a tourniquet out of his belt, tight enough to stem most of the bleeding, and then drove himself to the nearest clinic. He needed some extensive work on his arm, but it was saved, and retained most of it’s functionality. You could definitely see the flesh and muscle that was missing though.

Another acquaintance I knew from book group, grew up on a zoo in Mexico, and their family had a pet lion named Freddy, who lived in the house when they were growing up. No scary stories with the cat, but I guess he was a real character.

“When other officers arrived at the scene, Cuevas – who happened to be free on bond for a murder charge – put the tiger in a white SUV and drove off, Houston Police Commander Ron Borza said.“

The tiger supposedly is owned by a man known as “D” who might be involved with illegally importing exotic animals. India has not been seen since she was loaded up in the suv. I don’t think she’s on the loose. Somebody is hiding her somewhere.

Cuevas bonded out on the recent HPD charges. Who says we’re not tough on crime down here?

Maybe Cuevas will lead the police to India.

Texas Tiger still on the lam as alleged owner freed on bond (yahoo.com)

“Cuevas has previously had his bond in the murder case revoked four times and he was set to appear in court on Friday as prosecutors seek to revoke it a fifth time.“

Sounds like he’s got a good lawyer.

Noon Thursday still missing.

I guess you haven’t had a chance to update us on this. The tiger was turned in to authorities by people who still claim they weren’t the owners and it is now at an animal sanctuary with lots of trees and a personal pool. I believe Cuevas is still in jail, but I haven’t tried to keep up with his situation.

So relieved India, the tiger is not only safe, but in a sanctuary now. Very good outcome for a situation that could have ended badly.

I knew about it and was formulating a response but I still don’t know what happened. It seems as though everybody associated with the tiger is lying and I’m not talking about the police. :tiger: :tiger: :tiger:

Speaking of nostalgia, did Jack Lemon ‘Save The Tiger’?

Jack Lemon is one of my all time favorites. I especially like “Mister Roberts” where he plays alongside Henry Fonda and James Cagney. Lee Marvin had a small role.

The 1968 film “Monterey Pop” with lots of great performances. It was on TCM recently.

Pete Townsend of The Who destroys his guitar as always at the end of their set.

Jimi Hendrix outdoes him by making love to his guitar in two different positions, setting it on fire and smashing it into bits.

Somewhere upstream I’m pretty sure I posted the vid of the outtakes and cut footage.

This was from a costume party. Not really sentimental but all around an excellent evening.
