[Thatcham, Berkshire] Bunk Inn

A lunchtime stop on the way to Winchester and only a short way off the A34.

Wild boar sausages had a lovely, powerful porky flavour. They came with mash and a mix of greens – kale, tenderstem broccoli and chard. Good gravy.

A cheese & tomato wasn’t exactly a tart. It was, however, a slice of pastry, topped with roasted tomato, chard and local Wigmore cheese – a fairly bland but creamy sheep’s milk one that melted well. It sat on more chard and was surrounded by kale, more roasted tomato and baby leeks. An accomplished assembly job, but an assembly job nevertheless.
