What a lovely gift, and to someone, you, who appreciates it on so many levels!
Is this one of those CI fryers with the little steamer spikes on the underside of the lid? If so, we picked one up at an antique store some years ago, and it really upped my fried chicken game. Debatable, I know, but I won’t fry chicken in anything but, given a choice.
I’m surprised by how good it looks. Too bad their workers have to work today but at least they’ll enjoy this meal, hopefully it’s the “family” meal today.
I purposely cut back and didn’t make stuffing and mashed potatoes. Just too much work for me to do everything. Really miss it. Maybe Christmas I’ll just make sides!
What did kitty have?
Is it just my photos that aren’t loading? I can’t see a few above my post as well. Is it a more global problem tonight?
I had to wipe the plate down a little bit before photographing it, but otherwise, yes, it was very well plated.
I agree with you about the people having to work, but it seems that things in Vegas are quite different. I was happy to see that supermarkets closed in the somewhat early evening so that their employees could go home. Before COVID, most Las Vegas supermarkets were open 24 hours, 365 days a year!

I don’t know why my picture wouldn’t load. Oh well! I hope everyone enjoyed their blessings.
yes, it has broken concentric circles on the underside.
what advantages have you noticed with regards to fried chicken?
I’m having trouble, too. Maybe the system is too busy.
I’ll try tomorrow. Looking forward to viewing your spread!
Same, i thought it was my internet.
He’s a big fan (as far as I know, he still hasn’t learned English in spite of my constant efforts) of Temptations catnip fever treats.

Gravy improved a lot with immersion blender and Bisto. I used a strainer to strain out some dark bits.

A day not without its culinary mishaps, but all’s well that ends well.
Grilled turkey breast sandwiches on homemade cranberry walnut bread with Swiss cheese. Convection-oven potato fries with cider gravy. Marinated carrot slaw. Pickled green beans. Currant jelly. For dessert: pumpkin Pots de Crème.
In the spirit of autumnal harvest: currants, carrots, green beans, potatoes, and pumpkin from our garden.
Didja pass out yet?
All done!
Good night all.
I had a slight problem with the pan de cristal: it spread more than it should have. The recipe says it yields four loaves of approximately 5"x7", but mine turned out more like 6"x8" or even 9". They also got kind of scorched on top after 20 minutes in the oven. It’s a good thing I checked on them, because the total bake time per KA is 27-28 minutes.
Aside from the slight char on top, the loaves have a light and airy crumb. Truly impressive if you’re impressed by that kind of thing. As for how they taste…well, kinda meh. I don’t know what I expected, considering it’s just water, flour, yeast, and salt, but for some reason I hoped they’d be more then excellent sauce soppers.
If I can figure out how to make a sourdough version, I’ll try it again. Otherwise, I think pan de cristal is a one and done for me.
