Thailand - 2026: Does that year look wrong to anyone else?

I guess travelling “off season” really helps with pricing and availability for accommodations, I’d be way to freaked out not making reservations months in advance.

I want to travel with you :face_holding_back_tears:

And that sai oua looks absolutely mouthwatering.

I am sharing these posts with my daughter who has a trip planned for next month. Thank you both for allowing me to trip vicariously.

Is that a thing? :open_mouth: I guess I figured there was something like that happening when there was increased demand.

I think I left out my nearly daily visits to Chinatown. Which would be sad. Nearly every day I would take the MRT subway to Wat Mangkon and walk past this scooter taxi guy. Always the same appraising look followed by a dismissive nod of the head when he realized I was a pedestrian. I like his attitude.

My usual first stop is an old tea shop recommended by Peter years ago, Ek Teng Phu Ki. Always quiet, delicious Egg Custard Toast with a Ceylon Milk Tea. Heaven.

My last visit every seat was taken and a Chinese tour group was lined up outside waiting for tables to open. There are only 6 deuces and 3 four tops, so they may still be waiting.
Then it was off to Urai Braised Goose for a delicious meal of, you guessed it, braised goose.

Or Prachap Roasted Duck… I think i also put the picture of the combo dish for here under Song Wat beef. Whoops.

Lethargic cat next to a coffee roaster shop.

Strangest entry to a coffee shop. Just junk scattered everywhere. Super popular place, too.

Construction is a constant in Bangkok. Everywhere, small projects and large.

Having your specialty in the name of the place is so helpful. Loved that place, again a cool AC upstairs room with coke on ice.
Song Wat Beef Egg Noodles used a beef that was almost too tender to do the dish justice. Great husband wife team, definitely want to go back.

I have a feeling i mixed that photo up with another shop… Sorry for the mis ID.
My new favorite coffee place is Restr8o. They serve a medium roast Chiang Mai coffee that is just right, I do not know the coffee terms but it is bitter without a bite and rich without sweetness.

I just realized I forgot to post about my two new favorite Som Tum places. Both serve it family style with the Som Tum in the center and accompaniments around the side. Madame Somtum is near Phloen Chit. Odd disjointed service but a great meal!

And Have a Zeed is upstairs in Siam Discovery. Another outstanding Thai Som Tum! Not fishy like Lao, but simply delicious!

Banh Mi from Saigon Sandwich in Emquartier, surprisingly decent! That entire food quart is good.

Time to fly, Suvarnabhumi is calling my name!

It was similar to Pad Krapao, but tasted a bit different. Probably a variant of some sort.
There were so many choices there you could go back every day for a couple weeks and never order thesame thing twice.
