The party happened in England - they have much more reasonable law wrt drinking age, so they weren’t underaged

Yet the drinking culture in the UK is not far behind the binge drinking in the US.

Funny how that works.

British no.1 for drinking culture, surely?

I guess it depends on what is meant by ‘culture’! I much prefer the drinking habits I’ve observed in countries like France, Italy, Spain and Switzerland compared to the UK. But this is probably a subject for another thread.

indeed, we in the UK arguably have a kind of drinking culture which is to our detriment.

That’s me and Amaretto. Yacked off it once…never again.

I am 76 and still like a party of booze, chips, and dip or salsa. I am also not averse to a greasy cheeseburger the next day. Some things are timeless. One of my best friends is always up for a martini but also shares my love for mayonnaise sandwiches.

OMG. I ate mayo samiches every day for three years when I was younger. Haven’t had one since I was 10. I like any get together, save for formal weddings.

I am in general agreement unless there’s enough wealth involved to spring for truly good Champagne and a buffet that has really good noshes like caviar, crab legs, lollipop lamb chops, etc. I went to such a couple, and I must say their wedding reception was a crash worthy event.

My younger brothers, 1960s in North Carolina, like nothing better than a mayo sandwich made with Worst Brand Potato Chips inside and Worst Brand Soft White bread.

I like really good mayonnaise with just a spoon.

When I make it myself, I never worry of spoilage. Gone in hours.
