My beloved tacos de cabrito from Taquera el Charrito Caminante are no more. Gone are those swoon-worthy gems.
The replacement, though, is no slouch. The overall quality is probably better even. I tried three items from the menu, and it is rare when I am this pleased with the result. As a major plus, they have added two folding tables and chairs. We’ll see how long that lasts.
I tried two tacos: one fish and one carnitas. Super stuff. But the coup de grace was a sope with chorizo. The sope itself is the best I’ve had.
I did branch out and try the rather permanent ‘special’ of garnachas, five small tostadas topped with ground beef and a very spicy jardiniera of carrot, cauliflower and peppers. These are hallmarks of Guatemalan antojitos. I did not like these at all. The jardiniera was too spicy and the ground beef was ground beef. I was not offered a choice for the topping, alas.
Tacos Los Primos will be in my regular rotation.
