Sushi kiwami (Toronto)

I recall when the signs went up for this spot a while back. Walked by today and intrigued decided to walk in check the menu. At 299$/person they have their work cut out I suppose. Interestingly I saw that their omakase had a few tempura courses. Hmmm interesting. Search here didn’t turn up much has anyone tried them yet?

Few tsumami dishes and about 10 nigiri, plus dessert. Some good some bad. I didn’t like their nigiri at all … but it’s just their shari texture and taste not the style I like. For me, I find the texture too soft and the taste a bit muted. But I had only been there once, and the day I went, there were a couple of pieces that were awful. Ingredient wise, they do sometimes offer not-commonly-procured items from Japan (among sushi restaurants in Canada). There are lots of people who seem to enjoy their experience there more, but not within my circle of friends. Different people different preferences. It’s hard to recommend or discourage without knowing the style you prefer. But it does provide another option for sushi in downtown Toronto.

But for me and for that price, I can get better elsewhere in Toronto.

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed yasu, kaji and mssm and now defunct kibo secret garden for ‘budget’ level. Hmmm maybe a pass for now.
