The July/August issue of The Atlantic has a good article about supermarkets and supply chains. It includes profiles of workers in different parts of the industry, and manages to be both informative and intimate. As an aside, since Steve Jobs’s widow bought a controlling interest in the magazine, it’s been doing outstanding long form journalism on current events.
