Here’s the Top 10:

1 Restaurant Sat Bains, Nottingham
2 Midsummer House, Cambridge
3 Enclume, Cartmel
4 Casamia, Bristol
5 Restaurant Martin Wishart, Edinburgh
6 Gidleigh Park, Chagford
7 Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons, Great Milton
8 Ledbury, London
9 Araki, London
10 Harry’s Place, Great Gonerby

As folk’ll know, Hardens is compiled based entirely on diner scoring. Unlike the Good Food Guide, there’s no professional inspection. I contribute only because those who do, get a free copy of the guide. I’m not surprised to see seven of those in the list but I have something of a sense that this list must be a bit like the list you’d get if you asked TripAdvisor for the ten best UK places.

I was sad to read about the recent death of Jonray Sánchez-Iglesias one of the two chefs (and brothers) who earned Casamia its Michelin star and its great reputation. Apparently he had been unwell for sometime.

The restaurant is due to move to a new location in central Bristol (from a slightly distant suburb). I wish the family every success - we had some very good meals there in the past.

I’ve never eaten there (never been to Bristol) but I remember their food from the Ramsay programme. Two very talented guys.
