Suggestions Needed [between Hyde Park and Somerville, MA]

My best friend from high school is in Hyde Park Saturday night. I am in Somerville. We want to meet for dinner somewhere in between. We don’t want anything “fancy,” in fact, casual is good. We want to be able to talk and actually hear each other. And the clincher? We need easy parking.

I imagine this route:,+Boston,+MA/Somerville,+Massachusetts/@42.3021886,-71.0745435,13.19z/data=!4m19!4m18!1m10!1m1!1s0x89e37ef358fda529:0xf8a2b4f8301219b8!2m2!1d-71.1240559!2d42.2565289!3m4!1m2!1d-71.1150275!2d42.2996835!3s0x89e379441d806fa1:0x308991444edd9c05!1m5!1m1!1s0x89e377297bf5e165:0x7a907799d8f97b03!2m2!1d-71.0994968!2d42.3875968!3e0

Way outside my comfort zone for good quality, casual eats with parking. Any ideas? Please?

It looks like the Forest Hills T stop, where Brassica Kitchen is located, is on that route. I haven’t been, but it has its own parking lot and received numerous rave reviews on Chowhound:
Apparently they may have live music after 8 that can get somewhat loud, though.

My favorite discovery this year, Laughing Monk, is sort of halfway between those two points, with gorgeous “fancy” nigiri and other creative dishes at an amazingly casual price point, but parking at Brigham Circle can sometimes be a pain.

There is also Helmand - if the street parking doesn’t work out, the Cambridgeside Galleria has parking for 3-5 dollars.

Thank you for the suggestions. We punted. She brought some swordfish. I cooked up some sides. We sat in the comfort of my home, where we control the sound level, and had a wonderful evening.

No better way to catch up!

glad to hear it worked out in the best possible way. Swordfish was on sale at Whole Foods…

She picked this swordfish up at a fishmonger in Tiverton, RI on her way back up to the city. It was really delicious!

all the better! I have a dream of one day getting a rental near Tiverton to cook and grill.
