Stuffed artichoke v stuffed artichoke

Does an artichoke – and a particular version at that – deserve its own thread? The people say yes. Based on one sample each:

Carmine’s (UWS): Two HUGE ones for $25. The artichoke leaves satisfyingly fleshy, but the filling a little too oregano-y, and the liquid a bit over-lemony.

Norma (Hell’s Kitchen): One big one for $20. Tastier, more balanced filling, but leaves less fleshy.

My sister-in-law makes much better ones, and mine run a close second.

Any other suggestions?

Best place to have a stuffed artichoke is on the street during San Gennaro.

I prefer my artichokes pretty plain. I do like them quartered and grilled after steaming. I do not like stuffed ones, even the ones I make myself. I didn’t even like the ones I had at Armando Al Pantheon in Rome.

Thanks.

My wife’s [stuffed-artichoke]-loving family (to distinguish them from those stuffed-[artichoke-loving] folk), swear lately by Park Side (is there a @SteveR in the house?). In the past they’ve liked La Parma on Long Island.

As I said above my s.i.l. makes a mean one, and so do I. But the work … (When Eataly had in its early days a veggie butcher, I’d get them to trim my 'chokes. But that happiness was short.)

One of the friends that we go to Park Side with pretty regularly gets it a lot. Looks pretty good to me, but I’ve never ordered it there, being an eggplant rollatini fan myself.

Thanks.
