Street tacos: where and how SF

Thanks @ipsedixit and @honkman , I’ll keep El Autlense for the next time I’m in the area. Went to Tucán because he had never been and it was close. I like their homemade tortillas and everything is solid . My only criticism is they’re a taco generalist - nothing is best in class.

La Piñata, Vallejo, CA
Sort of permanent truck with nice small seating and counters. Double tortilla style (not home made). All were really good, but in order of deliciousness: Cabeza, Carnitas, Pastor and Asada.

Continuing my tour of glamorous cities my work takes me to, today we have Manteca, CA!
Tequileros Taqueria, another gas station food truck. Certainly better than the fast food joints all around but not worth going out of your way for. I couldn’t find any intel on Manteca.

One of our friends just opened a pizzeria in Manteca, called Retro Pie.

Tequileros has a number of brick and mortar locations in addition to the food truck biz. I understand the B&M one in Lodi is ok, too, but nothing special.

There are a bunch of taco places in Manteca, but I didn’t have time to really research which were the standouts.

El Asadero Poblano, Oakland/San Leandro
Nice set up with tables and a salsa bar - homemade tortillas. The tacos had a rustic earthy flavor that brought back a taste of Mexico.
