Joe Castro, who bought the iconic Willie Bird Turkey in 2020 when owner Willie Benedetti died, is moving the restaurant – not the retail store – to a new location. The restaurant-bar will shift to eastwards to the Rincon Valley neighborhood. The new space was home most recently to Basilico Cucina. New address is 4776 Sonoma Hwy, Santa Rosa, and the restaurant is renamed as The Bird .
The retail/sandwich shop, which we prize as the sole SFBA source of turkey necks which make the best stock ever, remains at 5350 Sebastopol Road, SRosa on Highway 12 past Llano Rd. heading West (leaving Sebastopol heading towards 101).
