We had lunch here today and if you lived in NYC and you remember Honmura An from the 1990s and 2000s, this place is on par.

The restaurant has only 11 seats, and takeout is not an option. Getting there early is recommended since this can mean waiting in line for 45 minutes or more. Hubby and I showed up at 10:45 am and were the first two people. The restaurant opens at 12 noon sharp, and we were out in under an hour.

I had the hot soba with tempura and hubby had the soba with duck. With some vegetable kakiage and green tea, this came out to a little over $86 for two people.

quite good.

hubby, who has been to Japan, remarked, “this is almost as good as being over there”, so take that for what it’s worth

I had a book with me so didn’t mind waiting all that time, but others might feel differently.
