Because the ending sound is where the “k” falls in duck.
Then why is Cleveland funnier than Duluth?
The opening “k”. Also, it’s cursed.
Well, my point, which I intend to hammer home regardless of whether a) I’m right or b) anyone cares, is that the Rob Long piece does not specify where the K sound should fall in a word. So chicken and duck should be equally hilarious. But if you want a funny bird, go with cockatoo. And if you want a funny philosopher, go with Kant. For the same reason, even.
So, if salmon stops smoking, can it be cured?
(I tried to refrain, but I just Kant).
BTW, a duck is funnier even when not being spelled or said: https://www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/season/18/anaheim-ca/appraisals/you-bet-your-life-prop-duck--201303A05/
Which leads me to the worst poodle mix varietal name - the cockapoo. Really? Sounds like an act that should be illegal in certain states.
Can I continue my pedantry (someone whose vocabulary is weak might think that word means something quite a bit more nefarious)? Wouldn’t a better name be chile relleno tartar?
Shh. She’ll hear you.
You’re going to hell.
I love them so much.
except when you know, its silent, but not like in knight
Kniggets is EXACTLY what I was thinking with the word “knight” from @BKeats ! LOL

I didn’t know until I went to cut and split firewood. Almost passed out. Just couldn’t get air.
Holy crap- an old boyfriend of mine had that record. I remember the cover more than the music
