Well, my point, which I intend to hammer home regardless of whether a) I’m right or b) anyone cares, is that the Rob Long piece does not specify where the K sound should fall in a word. So chicken and duck should be equally hilarious. But if you want a funny bird, go with cockatoo. And if you want a funny philosopher, go with Kant. For the same reason, even.

I’m going to sound like a PITA, but will go ahead. I appreciated the humor in small h’s post but will point out that lox is cured but not smoked salmon. Hence called lox. Salmon that is smoked is called, wait for it, smoked salmon. I will now leave…

So, if salmon stops smoking, can it be cured?
