Spent a long weekend at Jiminy Peak with my bro and his family Thurs-Sun for probably the last skiing of the season (although B and Spring Onion see hope this coming weekend at Wachusett). We pulled in late Thursday evening, around 10 pm. The weekend (fun) chaos began that evening (3 kids 10-and-under…they had a blast). Bro and SIL’s family got takeout from Bluebird at the entrance of the mountain which they enjoyed. We arrived after they did, drank some wine, and then we were lights out. Breakfasts were an at-home affair all 3 mornings.
Friday lunch at Christianson’s Tavern, basically the only place on-mountain that is still open for the season. Basic pub grub, kind service, decent beer and wine. So everything you would expect, although they ran out of chili for the season. I had a decent clam chowder (lots of clam), SIL had a seared tuna salad, there were burgers, BLT for B. Some bad sparse photos, but I swear, everyone got fed.

Friday dinner was takeout from a fun-looking Tex-Mex joint in nearby Stephentown, Norte Azul. Place was packed when we picked up just before 6 pm. No wonder, because there’s not much else around. I think in the warmer months, this place would be a great place to hang. Beef, chicken, veggie quesadillas for the kids and for me, respectively; beef chimichanga for my bro; shrimp and chicken fajitas for my SIL and B, respectively,
Saturday lunch was at Christianson’s again. SIL and I split a small margherita flatbread, kids got mac and cheese, BLT again for B, I don’t know what my bro had. Saturday dinner was (against my wishes for Bluebird) at Olde Forge in Lanesborough. The guys at the ski shop recommended that among other places which were ~20-25 minutes away. Too far for our crew, so we went with the closest place. Cute place, but the food was very meh. My mushroom ravioli was swimming in cream sauce, the 3 other adults had a daily special of mojito salmon which was declared to be way the hell too sweet. SO said his burger was delicious and he had his very first soda (grape, which he thought was going to be juice).
Sunday, we parted ways, they back to Mamaroneck and we headed 30 minutes north to one of our happy places, MassMoCA. Spring Onion said it was weird to be there when there wasn’t a music festival going on.We had an early lunch at the cafe there…B was shocked at how cheap a breakfast bagel sandwich was ($6).And he said it was good…lots of bacon. My kale veggie soup was good but too salty. SO gobbled down his pb&j, which he never gets. Compelling art as always. Fun weekend.
