I’m surprised to see so many in such a small country. By comparision, the UK has only 126 Bib Gourmand places.

It’s hawker/street food heaven here, John! We have street foods from all corners of China, every nook and cranny of India, and every part of the Southeast Asian archipelago represented here. But we can also drive cross-country in Singapore, coast-to-coast in under an hour - hence, you get a very high concentration of good food places within easy reach of everyone & anyone.

When Chowhound founder, Jim Leff, came to Singapore a few years back, we ate at 5 different places before tea-time on one particular day. We were to have dinner with a bunch of Singapore-based CHs that same evening, so Jim went back to his hotel and I went home to “rest”.

But Jim decided he wanted to taste more of Singapore before dinner, so he called (former UK Hound) Limster, who was also back in Singapore from London - and Limster brought him to another noodle spot in town where they ate 2 different kinds of noodle dishes. All these before 6pm.

Where else in the world would you want to have 7 meals in one day!

You come here to Singapore when you can, John! I’ll show you around.
