[Singapore] Lunch at béni , Mandarin Gallery

Chef Kenji Yamanaka’s 1-Michelin-star béni at the Mandarin Gallery delivers quality service and deceptively simple-looking, but stupendous delicious-tasting works of art. His 8-seater requires forward reservation - but once, ensconced there, one understands why: each & every patron was treated like royalty and accorded every bit of attention from the amazing service staff.

Bread was served in a bag, kept warm with heated pebbles.

Our lunch consisted of:

  1. Oyster & watercress.

  2. Shima aji, paired with bamboo.

  3. Mushroom, cream and truffle Royale.

  4. Scallop with celeriac puree and truffle dressing.

  5. Sea bream, with field mustard and beurre blanc.

  1. Pigeon with apple & ruby Port.

The pigeon was garnished with kumquat and a sweet fig jam.

  1. Tangerine on crème & crumbs - pre-dessert.

  2. Pears, poached in white and red wine, with chocolate.

  3. Coffee with petit fours.

  4. Petit fours - strawberry tart, Madeleine and chocolate cake.

Serving out the tea.

béni seats only 8 customers at a time - so book well ahead!
