I grew up in the Midwest, did my last 4 years of Army in the Midwest, and went to UG in the Midwest. i like snow and ice.
My first full-time (non-Army) job saw me moving down South. That first winter, I was just a couple days out from Christmas Eve and decided I needed to hit the mall for my wife’s presents after work. There was a light dusting of snow that was sticking to the grass, but not to the sidewalks or streets.
The mall was empty. I was baffled, given it was so close to Christmas, and asked a young store clerk about it. She said, “Don’t you know? It’s snowing!”
I’d volunteered banana bread for a potluck at work the next day and needed a couple of bananas. Well, that’s what they had. A couple, not together, both pretty bruised (okay for banbread, though). The bread aisle had one lone loaf left, trampled into the floor.
Amazing. All for a light dusting of snow that couldn’t stick anywhere with a bit of residual heat.

You can actually buy these stickers on Amazon, and apparently it’s a thing to stick them on (motion-activated) hand towel dispensers and see if folks bite.
