We actually had to go out for xmas lunch or dinner with our supervisor, who was a misogynist control freak. Good times
The late afternoon advent gathering with cookies everyone baked weren’t too bad, as most of my colleagues were nice peeps.

Oh, man, I miss our potlucks at my last in person gig before COVID. My developers were all from India, cyber security team was almost all west African, web content team was from Taiwan and Malaysia, QC testers were from Bangladesh. It was crazy; you never tasted such an amazing array of foods. Zoom holiday parties are NOT the same.
I organize a regular potluck back home (next one’s this Sunday ) with a fairly international crowd, too — Vietnamese, Thai, Persian, Turkish, Venezuelan, Brazilian, Mexican, Italian… there’s never a theme or any rules, and we always have an amazing array of foods as well. I always have to remind folks to bring their friends and family, and takeout containers!
You have leftovers?
Yes. With anywhere between 10-17 cooks (highest number of participants this Sunday), there is a massive amount of food. Even if everyone brought one extra person (and many don’t) it would be an impressive feat if all the food were finished.
A timely discussion for me — I should post another reminder to bring extra eaters.
I don’t like using a link but this was too good:
Heh … my childhood and the olive jar in the fridge.
It is possible that this company heard about the Liebeck vs. McDonald’s hot coffee lawsuit from 1994 and wanted to avoid potential lawsuits/damages.
Actually, it’s neither. But I’m sure you are aware
Yup, but in the spirit of the title of this thread, ça marche!
Touché
Today’s entry from my favorite column:

Sorry to post something here which likely won’t be seen as funny, but it seemed worthy of posting somewhere on HO.
Some (hopefully not many) may feel what happened “funny”. But to me, it’s actually sad because one of the things I abhor in life is ignorance. And reading the column immediately reminded me of this famous incident at A&W. Some people say it was an urban legend/myth, but since A&W confirmed it themselves, I would say we have to accept it as the gospel.
