Should Pears be Peeled?

I eat the whole pear (and apple), except the stem. People tell me the seeds are poisonous. I’m building tolerance in case I’m captured by a James Bond villain.

I don’t understand the draw of H&D pears and I certainly wouldn’t pay that price for them. And yes, in recent years the quality has gone down. They are often gifted to family members so I have tasted them for many, many years.

It depends on the pear and the preparation- Raw Bartlett pears, I wouldn’t peel. Bosc pears, I don’t typically peel when eating raw. I’ve had ones with thicker skins that felt like they needed to be peeled.

Any poached dessert pear, I would peel.
