Shelter Restaurant in Tofino (Vancouver Island) has a nice relaxed setting with a covered patio and very good food with not surprisingly a heavy emphasis on local fish. Definitely something we want to return in the future.
Roasted Olives - CHILI CHOY & TOASTED PEANUTS. KALAMATA OLIVE OIL & HONEY. GRILLED FOCACCIA - Interesting way to serve olives with an addictive sauce which provides a nice background burn
Sakamoto tuna tataki - CRISPY RICE CAKE & WASABI AIOLI. SOY GINGER GLAZE & JALAPEÑO - very nice tuna, good texture from the crispy rice cake
Crispy Brussels Sprouts - TOASTED BREADCRUMBS & GRANA PADANO - classic preparation, very enjoyable
BB Burger - HOUSEMADE BEEF PATTY, SWISS, ICEBERG, RED ONION, DILL PICKLE, BURGER SAUCE - nothing fancy but very well executed
Seared Wild Sockeye Salmon - SIDE-STRIPE SHRIMP & ROASTED SQUASH RISOTTO, BEURRE BLANC, FENNEL & FINE HERBS - Outstanding salmon which also worked nicely with risotto. We also really liked the plump shrimps
Lingcod Fish & Chips - TEMPURA LINGCOD, HOUSE-CUT FRIES & TARTAR SAUCE. CABBAGE & KALE SLAW. - Again the fresh local fish was outstanding and made for one of the best fish & chips in a long time
