We just spent several days in Seattle (from our native PDX) and had these experiences:
-
Local Tide is waaay overated. Mediocre food at inflated prices. The much-touted banh mi was only so-so; I’ve had much better (including a great banh mi at the PDX airport – make a note). The fish and chips were dry and tasteless. I don’t understand the herd instinct that leads to massive hype for such places.
-
Bar del Corso looks great, but we didn’t get to find out, because their outdoor seating area does not admit dogs, something we discovered only after we got there. I understand the reason – access is through the restaurant – but it would help if they put this on their website. Anyone reading this is duly forewarned. In my experience, it’s uncommon for places to have outdoor seating that is not also dog friendly.

Kabul was its dependable self. Excellent lamb as always, delectable eggplant, satisfying pilaf. A little pricey but reliability is worth something, no?

We stayed a few blocks from Sea Wolf and took advantage multiple times. Really excellent pastries, although I am less enthusiastic about the sprouted rye bread than in the past. I’ve gotten used to more flavorful stuff. The sandwiches are missable, however. Sorry to see that Cafe Besalu has closed for good; they were something else.
