I tried something new on the menu recently - the “Dirty Saltimbocca” with chicken ($38.95), which is a dish of chicken breast with proscuitto and fontina cheese in a brown sauce with white wine, shallots, and a truffle porcini reduction. It was good if not quite as generously sized as other OJ’s dishes. The chicken was pounded flat and the proscuitto was fried crispy, and the sauce was rich and velvety.
I had some ravioli as my side.

I tried a couple of new to me things at the North Beach OJ’s this past weekend.
The Dungeness Crab Cake ($25.95) appetizer, which was very good if a bit small for the price. It was mostly sweet Dungeness crab with a crispy bread crumb crust, floating on a lemony beurre blanc which was very nice with the crab.
And the Joe’s Spicy Rigatoni ($29.95), which was also very good. It had rigatoni in a spicy creamy vodka sauce with tomato and onion. I also added shrimp (+$9.99) which were perfectly cooked.
I also had a stiff gin Martini with blue cheese stuffed olives.
I sat at the counter. The kitchen was very busy on a Super Bowl weekend.
